Light a Candle

Candles make our spirits bright and aglow, and it’s not just a present-day enjoyment!  The Romans began making candles around 500 B.C.  Candles also existed in ancient Greece.  The earliest surviving candles originated in Han China around 200 B.C. and were made from whale fat!

Lighting candles is comforting, warm and very romantic.  Lighting a candle symbolizes bringing light to our wishes or desires.  Candles are also used in many houses of worship.  A candle can be lit as a prayer for peace or a request for healing!

In addition to setting a warm and cozy atmosphere, todays candles are made in various scents, and users can benefit from the aromatherapy they create!  Candles are also known for their soothing, healing properties and are often used by massage therapists to create a peaceful ambiance in their therapy rooms.  The lovely flicker and gentle glow they create helps sooth our minds and they’re often used in meditation and prayer.

Burning candles can even help with anxiety.  They provide the perfect atmosphere to induce calm and a sense of well-being!

During the holidays or any time of year, light a candle and enjoy it’s warm and beautiful ambience!  And when you’re at a loss for a great gift idea, give a candle! Most of us will greatly appreciate the gift we can never have enough of!
