The Peacefulness of Plants

Our home is our haven and being “home sweet home” generally helps us feel centered and at peace.  But stress still has it’s way of creeping into our lives.  One way to make our homes more calming is to have some house plants around!

Research has shown that plants in the home can reduce tension in people by almost 40 percent.  This is because they remind us of the outdoors and nature, which is instantly calming.  People are hardwired to respond positively to a natural environment!

Studies have shown that when plants are introduced to the workplace, anxiety levels decrease by 37 percent, fatigue decreases  by 38 percent and there’s a 38 percent reduction in hostility and anger!

NOT ALL PLANTS ARE ALIKE

The above benefits are obtainable just by having your average green house plants in your home or office.  But there are many plants that have physical benefits and can actually relieve the symptoms of stress.  Among them are peppermint, chamomile, lavender, jasmine, aloe vera, chrysanthemum and gerbera among others.  Not only the plants themselves, but the act of caring for them can be beneficial in that it’s a satisfying hobby for many.

So if you don’t have any, pick up a plant or two and indulge in the peacefulness and beautiful atmosphere they create!

A LITTLE LAUGHTER!

I bought some shoes from a drug dealer.  I don’t know what he laced them with, but I’ve been tripping all day.
